The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC Coupé is more than just a stylish SUV with a sloping roofline, it introduced 48-volt mild-hybrid technology to the GLC 300, using an integrated starter-generator capable of contributing up to 17kW and 200Nm of electric assistance. This gives the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine extra punch during acceleration while also helping smooth out the start-stop system. With 190kW and 400Nm from the petrol engine, a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, Mercedes claimed a 0-100km/h time of around 6.3 seconds, making this luxury Coupé considerably quicker than its elegant appearance might suggest.
One of the more unusual features is Mercedes-Benz's 'transparent bonnet' function. Using the vehicle's cameras, the infotainment display can create a virtual view of the area immediately in front of and beneath the vehicle, effectively allowing the driver to see obstacles that would normally be hidden by the bonnet, particularly useful when tackling steep driveways or light off-road terrain.
