The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 was one of Mercedes-Benz's best-selling luxury SUVs globally because it blended the comfort of a sedan with the practicality of an SUV, earning it the nickname 'the C-Class on stilts' among enthusiasts. Built on the same platform as the C-Class sedan, the GLC 200 delivered a far more refined and car-like driving experience than many larger SUVs, which helped make it especially popular with urban luxury buyers and families.
Under the bonnet sat a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with Mercedes-Benz's smooth 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. One of the most interesting engineering details was how the transmission constantly worked to keep engine revs low for refinement and fuel economy, often shifting so smoothly that drivers barely noticed gear changes.
